Earlier this week I was sent this billboard pic in an email, and I thought it was really impressive to see “The World’s Fastest Man” on a billboard in China representing Jamaica. After doing a little research I was able to find even more information on Usain’s Olympic dreams and his trip to Beijing.

21 year old Usain “Lightning” Bolt was born and raised in Sherwod, Trelawny, where he began running at the age of 10. However, it wasn’t until age 15 that Bolt began to truly find his place in track and field after winning the World Junior 200 m Title. Bolt earned international attention in 2007, when he earned a silver medal at the 2007 World Championships in Osaka, coming in second to Tyson Gay. Earlier this year Bolt ran the fastest 100m in Jamaican Invitational history and set a new world record, 9.72, in the 100m at the Reebok Grand Prix in New York, to earn the title of “The World’s Fastest Man”.

Puma signed Usain to an endorsement deal in 2002 and has gone all out in its efforts to promote the Jamaican sprinter in the 2008 Olympics through a promotional blog, videos, and billboards. Want to know what Usain has been up to in Beijing? Check out the video below.
