Suss: Beenie no-show in Portland/Mya no-show in Barbados/Busta dropped by Interscope?
Well after the long 4th of July weekend, it seems that the party dust has settled, and there are some ticked off party-goers all around the Caribbean!
It seems Beenie Man managed to “lose his passport,” and was unable to attend the Portland Jerk Festival this past weekend, where he was booked as the main headliner. Beenie’s management is saying that they attempted to contact the show’s organizers early so that he could address the audience, but were unsuccessful. Upon hearing that Beenie was a no show, the people were understandably angry, but unfortunately resorted to throwing bottles in a fit of rage. Real adult behavior! Of course unsubstantiated allegations are being meted out to all of his “associates” including D’Angel for simply being on the show, and Barbee for losing the passport to begin with. LOL! Speaking of no-shows, rumor has it that Mya was scheduled to perform in Barbados this weekend at a local club and pulled a no-show (I guess this is contagious) at the last minute. Reports are that she chose to stay at the local Hilton instead of appearing at the club. Making the situation even worse is that her trip was reported to have been paid by The Tourism Department. Ooh wee Mya, I hope you have a good excuse, and it’s gonna have to be better than a lost passport, the Bajans are threatening to jack your Caribbean heritage card! LOL! (source)
*Update: Hajjii Harrison (which is Mya’s father’s name, who is Jamaican, and her manager (just thought I’d clarify)) has left a comment here, stating:
“The promoters did not have the funds to pay the Artiste (s), so I directed Mya not to attend until she was paid in full - as agreed by all!

Wouldn’t the Tourist Board have ensured that the promoters would have the appearance money before committing to provide an all expense paid trip for an artist? If not, that was foolish! Oh well…I’m sure there’s more to this story as well.
Rumor has it, that Busta Rhymes has been dropped from his label, Interscope Records (isn’t his record supposed to drop in a few weeks? This can’t be good for business.) after a shouting match with one of the label heads. Evidently the label wasn’t feeling some of Busta’s tracks that were submitted for his latest album, which I posted about here, and Busta must have let loose, and was in turn unceremoniously told to get to stepping. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see on this one, something tells me there is A LOT more to this story than a heated argument, although Interscope and Busta’s management are remaining mum on the issue.
