St. Ann under mud and water

Wow, to look at some of these pictures it’s hard to believe that these are the same streets I’ve walked time and time again, it looks like a disaster zone. On Wednesday there was a storm system that brought a barrage of rain into the area and subsequently flooded a number of districts within the parish of St. Ann. While the rain was the culprit, it seems that the mud is the residual issue, there are reports that in some areas there are 12 inches of mud in the road. There have been no reported injuries but traffic is a mess and many of the shopping centers have been flooded and/or closed temporarily. Over mining and construction around the Ocho Rios area are being blamed for the mudslides, there are also concerns that diseases could be spread if the area is not properly and quickly cleaned-up.
