Pre Weekend Rundown
I don’t know about ya’ll (yes I said ya’ll, I’m from Texas!)but it’s been a rough week for me people! The hours of 12am-4am have been my best friends this week. I’ve been spending all my waking moments on this laptop doing everything from searching for more freelance work, a 9 to 5, reading, amping up for some MAJOR changes on the site for ‘08 and getting ready to leave for Jamaica next week. On top of all of that my wireless card died on me last weekend and after calling Compaq’s sorry excuse of customer service 5+ times and trying to decipher what language the reps were speaking (doesn’t anyone hire native English speakers anymore?), I ultimately did a system recovery that wiped out all of my files and pics (thank God for flash drives), so I’ve been tied to my dining room table all week because my ethernet cord is so short.
I have to mail off my baby this weekend to get repaired and I’m not at all happy about it. I will never EVER buy another Compaq computer, this is my second one and it’s a piece of junk just like my desktop was, but I bought it out of sheer desperation when the fan on my Toshiba went out. I just needed a quick and reasonable replacement so I blame myself, you know the saying, “first time shame on you, second time shame on me”. I’m also disappointed to hear that my mother-in-law doesn’t have phone service in St.Mary due to them building the main road from Montego Bay, the construction is almost to Port Maria and they have torn up all the phone lines in her area, so needless to say I am not going to have internet access for two weeks. Ah caramba!
Now that I’ve finished crying…here’s your pre-weekend rundown.

Wait! So how do you normally get internet access in JA? Through a phone line or wirelessly. I have not figured that out yet with my laptop.
Have a great time back home. I am so missing it right now. Its colder than ice round here to me and some Jamaica sun could do me a whole heap of goodness.

Well I did a little research on Cable and Wireless’ website and asked around and you can get internet access for $30/month on the phone line. You have to set-up the appointment and then they come out and set-up or you can set it up yourself. Someone in Kingston told me that wireless is up and coming, but I think your people and mine are in the country where that probably isn’t an option.:) Thanks for the well wishes, I’m SO ready to go. It’s like 34 degrees in Dallas this weekend! LOL!
