Jamaican-based TV Series- Da Kink In My Hair

I SOOOOOO wish I could catch this show!!!! I have natural hair so of course this show caught my attention, (so shallow I know, LOL!) Unfortunately if you live outside of Canada like me, you’ve maybe never seen or heard of it. Da Kink In My Hair is a play and now a TV series created by Jamaican actress Trey Anthony and Ngozi Paul. The show follows the life of Novelette Campbell (which was played by Sheryl Lee Ralph in the series initial pilot on Vision TV), the owner of Letty’s beauty salon. Novelette spends her days at the salon offering advice, laughs, and a shoulder to cry on but struggles to get a firm grip on her struggles. Set in the Caribbean based community in Toronto, Letty’s salon is the place to go for not only the latest style but the latest passa passa as well, it’s as Trey states “where women really mess with the kink in their hair and the kinks in their lives”. The show is the only predominantly Black based show on Canadian TV and is being heavily promoted by it’s network GlobalTV. If you’re in Canada it premieres this Sunday at 7:30 (please watch it so it won’t get cancelled and the rest of us have to wait a million years before they put it on DVD, like Soul Food the series (which was also shot in Canada)!!!) O.K. I’m digressing so before I get totally carried away, I’ve posted a snippet from the series and Trey Anthony’s skit, Ms. Jamaica (haven’t seen it, where have you been???) These are hillarious!
