I’m back with my two cents on the Grammy’s

Hey guys, yeah I know it’s been a minute since I last posted but I’ve had a lot of crazy things going on lately. My cousin from Trelawny left Tuesday, I’d been playing hostess for the last two weeks trying to keep him entertained. (I think I did a pretty good job???) I’m also in the process of trying to build a website for my copywriting company and juggling writing assignments. I have never done anything as complicated as web building! What a headache! Anyway, I won’t bore you with anymore of my personal life, but just know that it’s been crazy but I’m back.:)
I didn’t watch the Grammy’s, I went bowling instead. I forgot to set my recorder before I left for my parent’s and by the time I remembered I was over it, besides I knew the blogosphere would fill me in. I did manage to record the last hour on my DVR but I still haven’t gone back to watch them. Judging by the statements that Aretha Franklin made about Beyonce and Tina Turner and those made by Natalie Cole referring to Amy Winehouse winning, coupled with the controversy over Kanye West’s acceptance speech, it seems that music was definitely not the focus of the night. Needless to say I’m not at all surprised about the Reggae category going to Stephen Marley. I’m just happy that the Reggae Academy Awards will be happening next week, it’ll be great to see nominations from a broad range of categories. (I voted for Jah Cure as most popular artist and Nah Go A Jail by Busy Signal as Most Popular Song of the Year.) As far as Nas and Kelis and their “*igger” T-shirts all I can say is that I’m disappointed and a tad bit surprised. I mean I heard all the hype a while back about the album being released under that titled but I thought he’d get a clue, I guess I gave him too much credit.
I read a few days ago where Air Jamaica brought down the hammer on it’s employees in Florida, I’m not at all surprised but I do feel sad for those employees. Can you imagine going in to work one day and your boss telling you that starting next month you’ll be making half of what you used to, after you’ve worked there 20+ years. It’s situations like those that made me leave the corporate world, you give all your talent to a company for pennies on the dollar, all the while knowing you hate what you are doing and deserve better, and then they discard of you like a used piece of tissue at their whim, what a shame.
