If you’re a fan of Southern rap then you’ve heard of Bushwick Bill and the Geto Boys. Today is the 42nd birthday of Bushwick Bill, born Richard Shaw on December 8th, 1966 in Kingston, Jamaica. Bushwick Bill is known just as much for his lyrical talent as he is for his small stature (he is a dwarf) and missing eye. In a suicidal episode in 1991, Bushwick was accidentally shot in the eye and subsequently lost the use of it.
Alongside fellow rappers Scarface and Willie D, Bushwick Bill lent his talent to a number of successful rap albums as The Geto Boys, and made a number of guest appearances on albums by other artists including West Coast superstars Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre.
In 2006, Bushwick re-dedicated his life to Christ and released his first gospel album entitled, “Testimony of Redemption”.
