Did You Know They Were Jamaican?: Mya Harrison

R&B darling and dancer, Mya Harrison, was born October 10, 1979 to Theresa and Sherman (Jamaican) Harrison, and is the oldest of three children. Mya debuted on the music scene in 1997, with the release of her self-titled album, “Mya”. The album featured the hits, “Movin On” and “It’s All About Me”. Her biggest hit, “Case of the Ex” was still to come with the 2000 release of, “Fear of Flying”, which received mixed reviews, but still managed to follow the success of her first album, and resulted in her second platinum album. Subsequent albums followed, but none have matched the success of her first two. In addition to being a singer, Mya is also a philanthropist and model, appearing in magazines such as King and Maxim, and donating her time to charities including her own, The Mya Arts and Tech Foundation.
Mya was also scheduled to star in the Broadway musical ,”Chicago”, this spring but her debut was postponed due to the artist breaking her foot.
