Did You Know They Were Jamaican?-Grace Jones

Most of us remember Grace Jones from her crazy antics in Boomerang alongside that ageless diva, Eartha Kitt and Eddie Murphy, but did you know that she was born in Spanishtown, Jamaica on May 19, 1948 as Grace Mendoza? Grace along with her brother, ( world renowned minister Bishop Noel Jones) relocated with her parents to the US in the mid 60’s where she began a career first as a model and then a somewhat successful singer, primarily overseas, and even inked a record deal with Island Records. Known for her iconic stature, distinctive voice, and flair for all things extreme, Grace Jones has managed to transcend the limitations of time, gender, and race to become a legend in her own right.
