Attempted Assasination of Bob Marley-This Day In Jamaican History

It was on this day in 1973 when gunmen attempted to kill Bob Marley, as well as others that were in his home at the time, including his wife Rita. It was widely believed that the attack was politically motivated, as Bob and The Wailers were to perform at the Smile Jamaica concert two days later, an event that was perceived by some to support the People’s National Party leader, Michael Manley.
No one involved in the incident was critically injured and Bob and The Wailers went on to perform at Smile Jamaica. After the concert Bob and The Wailers moved to England and went into a self-imposed exile (for fear of Bob’s life again being endangered) for more than a year. The masterpiece Exodus was released during this period, bringing us reggae classics such as Waiting In Vain, Natural Mystic, Turn Your Lights Down Low, and Three Little Birds.
Here’s Turn Your Lights Down Low featuring Lauryn Hill.

Hey Marlita,
I saw it yesterday in the freezing cold, but I wanted to support Will and see the movie! I’ll be posting about it tomorrow.
